The Barnsley 1999-00 Retro Collection
The 1999–2000 Barnsley Admiral home shirt represents a bold red design worn during one of the club's most exciting campaigns as the Reds came within touching distance of a return to the Premier League.

Under the experienced Dave Bassett, Barnsley finished an impressive fourth in the First Division, earning a place in the promotion play-offs.
After overcoming Birmingham City in the semi-finals, the Reds booked their place in the 2000 First Division Play-off Final, facing Ipswich Town in what would become the last domestic club match ever played at the original Wembley Stadium.

It was a final worthy of the occasion. Barnsley took an early lead before goals, drama and two penalties turned the afternoon into one of Wembley’s great play-off spectacles. Despite a spirited fightback, the Reds fell to a heartbreaking 4–2 defeat, finishing just one game short of the Premier League.
The Millennium Season kit has become one of Barnsley’s most recognisable Admiral designs. More than two decades later, it remains a favourite among Reds supporters, capturing the optimism and excitement of a campaign that came so close to making history.

Today, the official Admiral retro release brings that iconic shirt back exactly as supporters remember it.
